Just Cause 2

Postby MonacoSteve on Sat Mar 06, 2010 4:26 am

Someone having had the chance already to have a look at Avalance's latest game, Just Cause 2? The demo it available for play now . Man, what a really HUGE landscape they have! The game play/story is not my favourite (third person shooter), but the large map with the many islands and the possibility to move freely around is amazing.

I agree with you there Steve. It has a little "WOW" factor but it won't be the game that I am willing to play.

It is nice, and I can really recommend to try the demo. The game play is very hard (for an old geezer like me, at least), but the landscape is simply amazing in quality and size. It is a huge, huge world, and I'd love to such a world for simply hunting...

Here are some screenies for you to enjoy:

I find it weird that anything farther then a 100 feet in front of you is all blurred out. I guess you have to limit the graphics some where though, I just wish I wasn't so noticeable.

Yes, I've seen those blurry screen borders, too. But if you just play as usual (i.e. focussing on the center where you have to shoot) this will hardly annoy many people.

I can foresee this game becoming a tremendous success. It has everything, from marvellous grafics, a long, amazingly flexible story, a freely movable huge, huge landscape, to a lot of pure action.

It is only to fast and too bloody for me. I needed a "relaxation mode" to enjoy it my style...

Ya its nothing you couldn't get used to, but the first screen shot is a perfect example of why its annoying. I still have to do a few missions and see what I think. Game world is defiantly massive though and so far has been pretty fun.

Does anyone know if theirs a mod or patch or something that'd make it compatible with windows XP????

There is a demo "trainer" out already which allows you to overcome the time and space limit (to some extent) and many other limits of the demo, but as JC2 requires DirectX10 to play, there is no way around having Vista or Windows 7. DirectX10 is incompatible with XP.

@Arisk: wow, only a few missions left to do? I was never able to complete a single location aside from the start camp... even using the trainer with unlimited ammo and so ... they just kill me .... but this probably discriminates a naive hunting game player from a professional ... ;)
