Nice clip! Great racks on those deer, amazing sounds. How did the recording went, didn't you capture a lot of traffic noise in the beginning of this clip? i see a lot of traffic in the background. Anyway great clip! Great mixing at the end also! That guy should watch out making that sound out in the forest

Re: Capturing deer sound
Very nice! I appreaciate very much that the team gets the sounds directly from living animals and is not trying to compose some artificial noise in the studio to something that they just believe might animals do...
This are sounds of red stags, though. The North American elk, as the closest relative to this species, has completely different voices.
But this clip keeps me optimistic that HW will not only server the New World market like every other hunting game I know has basically done and is doing. How refreshing would it be to see a hunting game based on the European continent! There is a larger community of European hunters than one might think - and these people would become big, big supporters of such a strategy. And I dare to say: even American hunters might be interested to see something different perhaps - after all those never ending whitetails and mules... Hm? Good idea?

I would love to see a continent like Europe. I do get kind of tired of Mule deer, Elk and White tails.
It might also help some people learn what different continents are like...

Like the effort and idea of using real sound, but I hope this is because Red Stag will be in the game and these sounds will be used for them only. Instead of using the same sounds for each deer like animal.

Re: Capturing deer sound
Part of the plan has always been to have a number of continents to hunt on. We've begun with the US as this is where the larger market is, but we also want to include Europe and Africa at a later stage.
Recording the sounds were not affected by the traffic as our sound engineer managed to only pick up the deer sounds using some pretty cool equipment (that I simple don't understand and don't want to)
Don't worry, we won't use the wrong sounds for the animals. We understand how important this is to you when creating realism, so we'll ensure that the right sounds are used for the right species. Besides, it was great fun having the back of my shirt eaten by the deer while I was filming this piece! Not sure I would enjoy filming the crew recording bear sounds though!

The way you attract a rabbit is by making a sound like a carrot.
