Podcast with the Senior Producer

Postby mrtibbs on Wed Apr 28, 2010 1:03 pm

The Senior Producer on Hunter's World, Ewan Lamont, will be recording a podcast soon, answering some of your questions relating to Hunter's World and further development of the game.

If you have a question for Ewan, please add it to this thread and I'll try and get a response for you in the podcast.

Would it be possible to explain the game play a little? in one of the previous pod casts they mentioned an option for private hunts as well as group hunts.

*assuming* that means we can buy a private reserve to hunt on, will we be required to maintain that land? such as planting or choosing food plots for a specific type of game? or will it have a small virility of each type of game available depending on our licenses? or the size of the reserve we buy if there will be options.

Also with the group hunts how dose that work? If the group takes down a trophy do all players get the trophy credit or just the person with the kill shot? Or will there be a trophy section just for group hunts?

*edit*
Also, a lot of people have asked about ballistics from the game play teaser video it doesn’t look like they have been put in *at least not yet* could you shed some light on that for us?

Hi.
I have question though I'm not sure if its appropriate for this but ill have a go anyway.
Under the discover tab, down in the Hunters World Rules It Says (quote) "No alcohol during hunts. Bars are available at the lodges for post-hunt celebration and liquor can be drunk at designated camping sites"
I was wondering if there is actually going to be a form of alcohol at the lodges and designated camping sites for sale or not. And if there is would it jack up the rating of the game and change its audience or do you think it would remain the same.
Also i would like to know if there would be like an in-game age limit based on our profiles or if its just for anyone.
Thanks

I'm editing it at the moment, so it should be live later next week. We managed to get 2 video podcasts, one about the game development and the other with general games questions.

Hi everyone. while I'm waiting for the video edit, here are the answers to the questions you recently posted.

Will the game include a first person view?

Yes it will. You already go into a first person view when you're shooting, but it won't take much to add this feature.

Can you tell us more about managing our own game or livestock?

It's interesting how we'll pursue this particular idea and it's certainly something we want to do. We want to be able to offer people the ability to have their own private reserves in part of the world. How we actually do this is still up for debate although we do have some plans in the game design document. At the moment, there are two schools of thought, the first being that you would pick a piece of land, then purchase the animals to stock it.
The second idea is to allow people to design their own areas in the game, which we feel is the most compelling idea as it gives you total control, but it would require a lot more work. When stocking your area with animals, you would probably pay a certain amount of cash, but don't worry, it certainly won't be farmville!

Will everyone in a group hunt be rewarded with a kill?

Yes, that's the plan. There may be certain advantages for the person who makes the kill, but everyone in the group will be rewarded.

Will the game include a realistic ballistic system?

Yes, most definitely. We aim to have the most realistic ballistic system in any online game in the world.

How big will the game world be?

It's going to be huge! Our technology base is built around the fact that we can create massive amounts of land, very quickly and very cheaply. To start with, you're looking at 40x40 kilometres, which is already bigger than 'world of warcraft'! It will be massive and it will keep growing!

How do you expect some of the social aspects to work, like drinking beer?

The game should reflect reality, capturing the feel of a real hunting expedition. So, post hunting celebrations should be a part of the game as it's part of the lifestyle. This may of course, affect the ratings in certain countries, but that's something we'll examine further down the line.
